If you are a first-time reader or listener, these posts make the most sense when you start here.
Or, just dive in and see where you land!
That Righteous Fire?
Your Inner Teen lit it first
When was the last time you felt the urge to right a wrong? Yesterday? An hour ago?
Last year?
And how did you handle that? With resilience? With appropriate action?
Or did you stuff it into your closet of unresolved issues?
From…
WindyWild, I’d like you to meet My Reader. Dear Reader, I’d like you to meet my Inner Teen, Windywild. (Psst…I hope you get along.)
The Quote where I first mentioned Inner Teen Gift #2
"WindyWild revealed how she was behind my unbridled enthusiasm and pure love for the teenage stage of human development, and my righteous anger over the dismissive, negatively-weighted attitude our adult culture has toward teens, then and now. WindyWild was at the beating heart of my desire to earn a doctorate that would right a grievous wrong."
What’s the point?
As adults, we often lose touch with that fierce teenage drive to confront injustice.
We learn to compromise, to accept "that's just how things are," to silence our inner voice that cries out "this isn't right!"
Yet this dimming of our inner mandate comes with a cost.
When we reconnect with our Inner Teen's natural impulse to right wrongs, we recover something essential: the courage to name injustice and the unwavering belief that change is possible.
Whether it's challenging workplace inequities, addressing family dynamics that need healing, or joining larger movements for social change, your Inner Teen's gift of righteous determination can reignite your power to act rather than accept.
Take the challenge and experience the forgotten strength of Your Inner Teen’s mandate to right wrongs and transform resignation into punchy possibility.
The Challenge
Sit quietly for a moment and recall a time in your teenage years when you felt that burning certainty that something was wrong and needed to change.
Notice how that certainty felt in your body - was there heat in your chest? A straightening of your spine? A deep resolve in your heart?
Now, recall something in your current life that triggers the sensation of "this isn't right."
Instead of pushing that feeling aside, write it down.
Next, connect with your Inner Teen through the non-dominant hand journaling process and ask them for suggestions.
Then list three small but concrete actions you, and Your Inner Teen have come up with, that will help address this wrong.
Choose one action and commit to doing it, letting your Inner Teen's courage and conviction support you.
